Prehistoric land, Lord Howe Island

Lord Howe is a tiny spec in the middle of the Pacific Ocean, where nature dominates and humans are allowed to come and marvel at it all. What’s striking and wonderful is how pristine it is, with way more birds, fish and other creatures than people. Aside from swimming, snorkelling and diving around the beautiful coral reef, you can hike up numerous hills and mountains. I photographed these Sooty Terns when I’d climbed half way up Malabar Hill, to the island’s north. Against a background of the ancient volcanic peaks, Mount Gower and Mount Lidgbird, the birds look almost prehistoric, like pterodactyls, the flying reptiles from eons ago.

My images are printed on beautiful archival pure pigment cotton rag paper by a master printer, then signed and numbered.

Unframed: 105cm x 158cm image with no white border, so the print size is 105cm x 158cm
